Students will be offered a curriculum aimed at re-engagement in education and to allow them to work to their strengths and be accredited.
We offer the following qualifications:
- GCSEs
- AQA Unit Awards
- Functional Skills
In addition to academic work we also provide practical activities where students can develop their creative skills. These include:
- Dance and Yoga
- Artistic Expression
- Creative writing
At Northgate we endeavour to provide all students with a personalised curriculum which is tailored to meet their individual needs.
Our students are taught National Curriculum subjects, with a focus on a core provision of English, maths and science. In addition, we have the capacity to offer art and sociology (at GCSE level) as well as humanities, general studies, drama and creative arts (depending on stage). All students also have discrete timetabled lessons for physical Education and PSHE. This includes relationships, sex and health education and personal development lessons.
As a certified examination centre we prepare and enter students for relevant qualifications to support their progression. These qualifications include GCSE’s, Functional Skills and AQA Unit Awards. Students who are patients at The Beacon Centre follow a broad curriculum and have access to discrete English, Maths and Science teaching. This is supplemented by a programme of general studies, creative writing, art, personal development and PSHE.
All students are taught in small groups organised by the stage they are in their academic journey.
